The most important tool at our disposal to meet the targets set to halt climate change is the increasingly effective and widespread use of energy from renewable sources. We can pursue this goal more effectively if we adopt Advanced Design as an original point of view: we prefer the "systemic" vision to the strictly "product-oriented" one, and we take as a reference the concept of circularity, whereby the "waste" of a process becomes a new raw material.

Looking at these concepts at a building and system level, we are well aware of the conditions where cooling and heating are required at the same time. Therefore, "waste" heat from one part of the system must become "raw material" for another part of the system.

This has led to the creation of MLE, a range of multipurpose units with total heat recovery using refrigerant R454B that can independently meet the cooling, heating and domestic hot water loads of a building.

Technical characteristics

MLE is Galletti's new range of multi-purpose, air-cooled, monobloc, total heat recovery units designed for outdoor installation, featuring the low-GWP refrigerant R454B. 

The range consists of 12 models with cooling capacities ranging from 40 to 240 kW, available for 2+2 pipe systems (M version) or 4-pipe systems (P version). The range's main strength is its high seasonal efficiency, which is designed to permanently reduce annual energy consumption. It also offers the possibility of meeting a building's heating, cooling, and domestic hot water production needs with a single solution. 

In order to increase the efficiency at partial loads, all MLE models are provided with dual-circuit solutions, use up to 4 scroll compressors with IDV (intermediate discharge valve), and are equipped with electronic expansion valves as standard. 

The use of top-quality, state-of-the-art components in the cooling, hydraulic, and electrical systems makes MLE units state-of-the-art in terms of efficiency, reliability, and operating limits. In fact, the ability to produce water from 5°C to 55°C and operate at full load with outdoor air temperatures from -15°C to 45°C is guaranteed. 

The range offers high acoustic configurability, with a wide range of accessories designed to reduce noise emissions, and high hydraulic configurability, with the possibility of adding up to 4 pumps (2 on the utility side and 2 on the recovery side) and an inertial buffer tank. 

The advanced controller, which is standard across the entire range, allows continuous monitoring of operating parameters, advanced adjustment logics and connectivity to the most common communication protocols.

Main components

Scroll compressors with an IDV valve

The scroll-type compressors designed to work with R454B, which can be sound insulated, include internal thermal protection of the windings and are installed on special anti-vibration supports. 

The scroll-type compressors are equipped with an IDV valve. IDV technology allows the compressor to avoid losses due to over-compression and the extra work the motor has to do at partial load, thus saving energy and improving seasonal and partial-load efficiency from 3% to 10%.

Electronic expansion valve

Standard electronic expansion valve including software that is designed and optimized to track cooling load behavior under all operating conditions.

Plate heat exchanger

Brazed corrugated plate dual heat exchangers made of stainless steel and optimized for use with R454B - one dedicated to the system and one to condensation heat recovery. 

Plate heat exchangers with a dual cooling circuit and single hydraulic circuit are used on all units, thus reducing overall dimensions and maximizing efficiency.

Integrated hydronic kit (optional)

Includes inertial buffer tank and up to 4 hydraulic pumps (2 on the cooling circuit and 2 on the heating circuit) for a complete, ready-to-install solution.
